Christmas Drawn Thread Sampler
Tutor - Lynda Bodkin
This stunning sampler, designed by Loopylou, is a perfect introduction to Drawn Thread embroidery. It is worked on 27 count antique white linen using DMC Stranded cotton and Metallic thread and is embellished with Gold beads . There are four rows of Drawn Thread work, each covering a different technique: Herringbone, Needle weaving, Interlace stitch with ribbon and Four-sided stitch. These bands are surrounded by Gold Star eyelets , Holly berry's and leaves.
Strawberry Pouch
Tutor - Jane Jordan
This delightful little silk pouch is worked in pure silk thread on ivory silk dupion. It is embroidered with tiny raised strawberries and a pretty strawberry flower, surrounded by a vine. It ties at the top with a tasselled cord. A nice little bag to fill with something special.
Beadwork Ring Pot
Tutor - Gillian Ashwell
To adorn your dressing table and store your rings, a tiny vessel worked throughout in herringbone weave in two sizes of seed beads. Around the top, the rim is embellished with more seed beads and glittering Swarovski crystals in two sizes. Make it in the colours of your choice.
Silk Ribbon Sunflower
Tutor - Tanya Haines
These bright and cheerful flowers are embroidered using silk ribbon and a variety of threads. This project is a good introduction to ribbon embroidery and basic stumpwork. The panel that you will embroider already has the design painted onto it, so you can stitch as much, or as little, of the design as you like. When completed, it would be ideal for the embelllishment of a cushion or a trinket box.
Beaded Chinese Lantern
Tutor - Jane Jordan
This is the third in Jane's beaded tassel series. This autumnal seed head is an ideal project to make at this time of year. The Chinese Lantern is stitched in a vibrant orange thread and the stamens are heavily beaded in lime green seed beads and crystals. This stunning tassel is suitable for all skill levels.
Goldwork Snowflake
Tutor - Kathleen Laurel Sage
Using traditional goldwork techniques such as couching gold cord, applying padded leather, laying threads to form filigree fillings and chipping purl to add texture, you will create a stylized group of elegant snowflakes that form a graceful, festive plaque to hang in your home over the festive season. This project would also make an elegant box top.
Bedford Bear
Tutor - Joy Sherriff
Make this lovely antique style bear using the finest German mohair. Joy will part-assemble the bear before the class, so that on the day you can concentrate on the techniques needed to give your bear its own personality. This will allow you to take home a completed bear. Bedford Bear stands 5 and 1/2" tall, or 3 and 1/2" when seated.
Beadwork Rosettes Necklace
Tutor - Gillian Ashwell
A gorgeous necklace to wear with your little black dress over Christmas and the New Year! Individual flat rosettes of graduating sizes worked in seed beads and sparkling Swarovski crystals are linked closely together to create a stunning accessory. Make it in the colours of your choice.
Christmas Dabble Day
Tutor - Tanya Haines, Jane Jordan and Lynda Bodkin
Christmas will be upon us before we know it, so before things start to get too hectic, come and join us for a day of festive fun. As always, there will be Christmas crackers, a raffle and lots of mince pies and cake!! There will be time for stitching too, and this year we have three lovely projects for you.
Lynda has designed a pretty decoration that would look very elegant hung on your Christmas tree.
Tanya has found some lovely pumpkin parcel ties made from hand-dyed silk ribbon and embellished with gold thread and topped with a gold cap. They could be used to decorate Christmas parcels, or given as a keepsake to someone special.
Jane has stitched a little gift bag with a Redwork Christmas Stocking on the front. Because they are so quick and easy you could stitch a dozen to put your Christmas “goodies” in.
